Introduction
Knowledge management (KM) aspects has prominent role in corporate sectors since many years. But there is an opportunity in higher education sector i.e. in academia especially to adapt the strategy in libraries to manage intellectual or scholarly assets of an organisation. This book is intended for library professionals, knowledge managers, students and other communities planning to implement the knowledge management aspects in libraries. As knowledge management has its prominent role in the corporate sector but the process and strategy can be easily adopted in the academic libraries as well i.e in higher education sectors. As academia generates a huge intellectual assets through scholarly publishing, such assets needs to be properly acquired, organised, stored and made accessible in a easily manner including long term preservation for the future generations. This requires a careful consideration and adoption of knowledge management strategy, process, people and technology aspects. This book provide an insight to its readers in this direction.

Objective of the Book

The objective of this book is to provide an insight on strategic approach for successful implementation of knowledge management in libraries. It will be written for professionals who want to improve their understanding of the strategic role and implementation of KM aspects in libraries. In this direction, this book provides ideas to its readers about the approaches pertaining to strategy and innovative measures, practical implementations, tools and technologies, platforms, challenges and issues, change management and other related aspects required for Library and Information Science (LIS) and Knowledge Management (KM) professionals.

Target Audience

The target audience of this book will be composed of professionals and researchers working in the field of Library and Information Science (LIS) and Knowledge Management (KM) arena. It will aid as guide to professionals working that includes Librarians, Executives/Officers in Libraries, Knowledge Managers, Consultants, IT Specialists, Trainers, Students, Research Scholars and other communities caters to LIS and KM domains who are planning to adopt and implement knowledge management aspects in libraries.

Submission Procedure

Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before June 30, 2015, a chapter proposal of 1,000 to 2,000 words clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter. Authors will be notified by July 15, 2015 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines. Full chapters are expected to be submitted by October 30, 2015, and all interested authors must consult the guidelines for manuscript submissions at http://www.igi-global.com/publish/contributor-resources/before-you-write/ prior to submission. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project.

Note: There are no submission or acceptance fees for manuscripts submitted to this book publication, Managing Knowledge and Scholarly Assets in Academic Libraries. All manuscripts are accepted based on a double-blind peer review editorial process. Please note to provide your full chapter saved in a word or RTF format and each figure saved as a separate file in .tif format. References within each chapter must be in APA style.

All proposals should be submitted through the E-Editorial DiscoveryTM online submission manager.

Bhojaraju Gunjal lives in Bangalore, India and serves as the Knowledge Management Consultant of a leading software consulting company that specializes in the global delivery model. He has more than nine years of professional experience in Knowledge Management & Library Administration in IT Sector.

He is pursuing Ph.D in Library & Information Science on the topic “Knowledge Organisation Systems in Digital Libraries: A Case of ETDs” from University of Mysore, Mysore. His academic background is MLIS (Master of Library & Information Science) from Karnatak University, Dharwar securing high First Class and Gold Medal. Recipient of National Merit Scholarship for twice. Completed PGDLAN (Post Graduate Diploma in Library Automation and Networking) from University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad.

Published & presented technical papers in the field of Library & Information, Knowledge Management both in national and international conferences/journals and also attended various professional training programs.
